Thai Yoga Massage
Thai yoga massage is a uniquely relaxing, yet energizing treatment combining massage, acupressure, deep stretches, gently applied yoga and breath work.
Although the massage is very physical, the focus is working the sip sen; the ten important energy lines of the body. Blockages on any line can prevent the flow of prana (life force) which can lead to ill health on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Thai yoga massage works to release blockages and harmonise the flow of energy around the body restoring health and balance. The healing art of Thai yoga massage has been practised in Thailand for thousands of years, although it originated in India based on an ancient Buddhist health system.
Claire’s approach is closer to the more northern style of Thai massage which usually lasts between 1.5 - 2.5 hours and includes many yoga-based stretching movements and thorough work on the energy lines of the legs. Claire is able to apply the massage in an intuitive and creative way which allows room for variation, to make each massage a unique experience and suitable for anyone, regardless of age, level of fitness or flexibility.
Thai yoga massage is applied through the clothes and without oils on a floor mat. The hands, feet, elbows, and knees are all used to apply pressure, treating the whole body.
